Well class today got me all worried about this cable project, so I almost forgot to post this.
So, I continue to not believe that NBC has extended Chase to a full season. The ratings on this show are not good enough to sustain throughout the entire season, unless NBC is totally comfortable with losing Monday night for the foreseeable future. Do they really want to lose to a show called "Skating with the Stars"? If it is just a matter of you spent too much money on the show and are at least going to air all the episodes that you have, then I kinda understand, but just make a decision and put this snoozer out of its misery.
Oh and HBO continues to like Boardwalk Empire, but with Dexter, the Walking Dead, and Sarah Palin's Alaska (Seriously), it has taken quite a hit in ratings, with just a 1.7 and 3mil HH. The show is still renewed for next season, and is doing pretty well by premium cable standards. The thing is, unless it starts to cut into Dexter more heavily, it may not go for more than 2 seasons.

Chase renewed
Frankly, I must admit that neither of my shows being cancelled saddens me. I do find it interesting that both of the shows - Chase and Boardwalk Empire - were picked up for a second season so early into the year. Chase especially, because the "experts" that read ratings were said that Chase was going to be the next show fed to the bear.
But yes, big news! Chase has been renewed for a second season. The reason this surprises me is that it is in 3rd place in its time slot behind Hawaii 5-0 and Castle. The good thing is that I think the rebirth of Hawaii 5-0 will run dry eventually. We have seen this happen before with shows like Dragnet. I have to be honest, I know nothing about Castle so I cant explain why Chase wouldnt be beating it.
So wrapping it all up. Chase renewed for second season.
More bad running and Helicopter leaping.
Saved from the bear... for now.

Its October
So it is October and we are a few episodes in to both Boardwalk Empire and Chase. I must admit that I haven't been following Chase as closely as I have Boardwalk Empire, that is only because Chase reminds me too much of The Fugitive and Kelly Giddish, while she does have that nice southern twang to her voice, she is no Tommy Lee Jones(because he doesn't care that Harrison Ford didn't kill his wife). And partly because it is a serial drama and I watch enough of those, and this particular one lacks the extra character element that I like in shows like Bones and House.
So in show news, Boardwalk Empire was renewed for a second season after it pulled a 4 in its debut, I'm not surprised because HBO thinks it has a hit, and if it gets at least a cult following, it is enough to keep the show on for at least 2 seasons, I mean look at deadwood.
Chase... hasn't been cancelled, so that is always a good thing. I am interested to see what kind of legs this show has and need to catch up on it to see where they have taken Giddish's character after alluding to her father's outlaw history in the first episode, and especially if they have developed her slowly or quicker than necessary to keep people watching, I do know that is isn't KILLING in the ratings but it isn't doing horrible. The problem is that I think it is 3rd for the time slot on the alphabet networks, but Hawaii 5-0 has an awesome theme song and 20 million people are watching Dancing with the Stars and leads well into Castle.
I also have to Congratulate whoever in the Class that has "Lone Star" for the FIRST cancellation of the season. Way to Go!

Boardwalk Empire. First Thoughts.
So I just watched the first episode of Boardwalk Empire, and here are my first impressions of the show. First off, Steve Buscemi as Nucky Thompson, county treasurer, casino owner, and gangster. I love Buscemi, he was awesome in Reservoir Dogs, unfortuately I didnt take him for a hard nosed gangster then and I am not sure I can take him as a gangster now. The good part is that he is still Steve Buscemi and can scare most people by looking at them with his "kermit the frog" eyes.
The rest of the cast seems to be very good. Michael Pitt really fills that LeoDiCaprio roll that Martin Scorsese loves to have in every movie (well show in this case). And Stephen Graham, one of those actors you have seen in 15 different things but only remember the character he played (I know him as Tommy in "Snatch" he was also in Gangs of New York and Public Enemies) is playing a young Al Capone, who at the time is just hired muscle for one of the other bootleggers.
There are at least 6 episodes filmed, and I am willing to bet that there wont be many more, if any, for this season. The most I can see is about 10 episodes this season, but I do believe that "Boardwalk Empire" will be successful, but i dont see it being a "Sopranos" level hit.
